Emergency Protocol: Raw Sewage Backup Hazards
Main line waste backup is a high-level biological hazard (Category 3 blackwater). Exposure to airborne pathogens and raw sewage requires immediate isolation.
Critical Safety Rules:
- Evacuate Contaminated Basements: Do not wade through standing raw sewage without rubber boots and respirators.
- Cease Water Drainage: Every flush or sink use from upper floors will discharge directly onto the basement floor through the lowest fixture trap.
- Ventilate from Upper Levels: Open windows on upper floors to dilute dangerous methane and hydrogen sulfide gases.
Restoring Main Sewer Flow
Our emergency crews use mechanical cutters to penetrate thick root obstructions and high-flow vacuum flushes to push blockages out to the city main. A high-resolution camera snake is deployed to verify the structural integrity of your line before wrapping up.
